2008 Olympic Trials
Four former Columbia Cross Country and Track and Field competed in the Eugene Oregon trials: Delilah DiCrescenzo ‘05CC, Erison Hurtault ‘07CC, Steve Sundell ‘04CC, Tom Kloos ‘99CC. DiCrescenzo currently ranks third in the US in the steeplechase as of June 5, according to trackshark.com. DiCrescenzo qualified for the Olympic trials with a time of 9:41.68, the fifth fastest time on the declaration list. Hurtault did not make it to the final heat of the 400 meters, but he was already guaranteed a trip to Beijing. Although he is a United States citizen who grew up in New Jersey, Hurtault will run for the country of Dominica, a small isle in the Caribbean, where his parents were born.[1] After finishing 15th in the marathon qualifier for the Olympics, Sundell competed in the 10K trials, ranking 22nd on the declaration list. Finally, Kloos, who is presently ranked 26th on the declaration list, competed in the men’s steeplechase.[2]
Notable
Several Track and Field athletes have been named in the Columbia Athletics Hall of Fame.[3]
