Yurika Nakamura won her debut marathon, the 2008 Nagoya International Women`s Marathon, to qualify for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. She competed in the World Road Running Championships in 2006 and 2007 and the World Cross Country Championships in 2005, as well as the 5000 m and 10000 m at the 2006 Japanese National Track and Field Championships and the 5000 m at the 2007 Japanese National Track and Field Championships. Nakamura was the only Japanese woman to complete the Beijing Olympics marathon, finishing 13th.
